Her childhood was a turbulent one. The mother she had left when she was just two years old to avoid an abusive relationship. She came back into the life of Pickler in 1995, and was given custody of her. It didn't go according to planned. Pickler, then 12, was remanded to her parents through the justices. They took care of her until she reached adulthood. Pickler could not be a parent to her children when they were absent. She confessed that, in absence of her parents Pickler had no time to attend school. She instead began learning how to care for her family earlier in age. Pickler was a member of the cheerleading teams of her high school and middle school. North Stanly High School graduated her in 2004. Pickler had a go as a beauty queen.
